Meshcore Cumbria is CumbriaCQ’s new licence-free 868MHz LoRa mesh network, built for local messaging, node coverage, community rooms, and practical off-grid radio data use across Cumbria and beyond.

On the CumbriaCQ Meshcore network we now have two main rooms:

  • #cumbria – the main regional Cumbria room
  • #cumbriacq – the dedicated CumbriaCQ room

We also bridge useful radio activity into the mesh side. When stations are heard on the radio network, spot messages are sent into the #cumbriacq room, making it easy to keep an eye on network activity from inside Meshcore.

One of the best things about Meshcore is that it runs on the licence-free UK/EU 868MHz band, so you don’t need an amateur radio licence to get started. Just use compatible hardware, flash Meshcore, set the correct regional settings, and join the network.
